The Rose-red City

As one of the greatest wonders ever wrought by Nature and Man, Petra “the rose-red city” is the most valuable treasure and a unique tourist attraction city.

It was carved into the sheer rock face more than 2000 years ago by an industrious Arab people “the Nabataeans” who settled there. It was an important junction for many trade routes that linked Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome with China, India and southern Arabia.

Much has been written about Petra, but nothing really prepares you for this wonderful and amazing place. It must be seen to be believed.

Itinerary:
A tourssharm.com rep. will accompany you from your hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh at about 04:15 am by an air-conditioned vehicle to Sharm International Airport. Your charter plane will take off about 6:00 am, and arrive at Aqaba Airport about 7:00 am, where your Egyptologist guide will be waiting for you outside the terminal with a sign. You will then be transferred to Petra in about 2 and a half hours.

The Petra tour starts with a walk in the “Siq”, which is a narrow gorge into the city of Petra, This amazing natural canyon runs through the towering rock towards Petra; you will see many things like carvings, water channels and representations of Nabataean gods.

Then you’ll reach the Khazneh “Treasury”, which is the ancient tomb which is carved into the cliff face. Legend says that treasure was hidden at the top in an urn.

Petra Theater follows; this theatre played an important role for the importance of culture in the city of the Nabataean. Some people assumed that it was built by the Romans, but it’s actually Nabataean and was constructed long before Romans came to Petra.

You then can’t miss visiting The Royal Tombs. To reach them you have to climb a stairway to Urn tomb; the most famous one “was used as a place of worship in the Byzantine empire time”, also the Silk tomb, which a small tomb beside the Urn tomb. After this is the tomb of Sesto Fiorentino and Corinthian tomb.

Then it’s time to have your lunch in a local restaurant and start making your way to Aqaba airport to take your flight at approximately 18:00 pm, returning back to Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport and driving back to your hotel.

  For this tour a down payment of £90 will be required upon your arrival to Sharm el Sheikh a maximum of 2 days before the tour, and the remaining balance will be required in cash on pick up from hotel on the tour day.

• Cancellation Policy:

  Cancellation of this tour must be made 48 hours before the tour date – “No Refund”.
